The Giant Clans and the Conquest
« on: September 01, 2017, 10:13:23 PM »

This topic was created for a discussion of an article by Dr. Michael S. Heiser called, The Giants Clans and the Conquest", which is located on his website at:

http://drmsh.com/the-giant-clans-and-the-conquest/

The article focuses on the land of Canaan prior to and during the Israelite conquest, and seeks to dispel the myth that the conquest was an indiscriminate genocide of the inhabitants of Canaan.  Your input will be appreciated.

Thanks for the article. Dr. Heiser provides other details while being interviewed in this Skywatch episode:

He makes the point, as he did in the article, that Joshua considered his work finished when all the Anakim were killed:

"For it was the LORD's doing to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle, in order that they should be devoted to destruction and should receive no mercy but be destroyed, just as the LORD commanded Moses. And Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction with their cities. There was none of the Anakim left in the land of the people of Israel. Only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod did some remain. So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses. And Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war." -- Jos 11:20-23 ESV
